The latest news about Darklight

Check these out!

Darklight framed wallpaper
Fresh from the framers, we’ve had some of our last scraps of Darklight wallpaper framed for posterity. It was so upsetting having to see it covered in black paint in the film, it’s great to have a little memento! Thanks to the wonderful Natalie Gausden for designing the wallpaper, and for the brilliant team at RMC Digital Print for printing it (they’re experts in large format printing – great value too!)

Darklight posters arrive!

Our spanking new posters arrived today – ready for the BFL London Film Festival where we’re being shown as part of London Calling on 16th October. They’ve been designed by the brilliant team at Deadeye Design Ltd who have supported us in the making of Darklight. A proper talented bunch! Thanks guys…

DARKLIGHT WINS AWARD!

Film London’s Best of Boroughs Film Awards (BoBs) took place Tuesday 17 July at the BFI Southbank where Darklight was shown alongside the other films funded under the Borough Film Fund.

A jury led by BAFTA-winning producer Stephen Wolley (Made in Dagenham), BFI Film Fund senior production executive Chris Collins, film critic Finn Halligan, producer Pippa Cross (Vanity Fair), and writer/director Hong Khaou (Microwave’s Lilting) chose Darklight to receive a special mention and described our film as “highly atmospheric”.

Not only that but the team waled away with a trophy presented by award-winning film-maker and BoBs patron, Gurinder Chadha (Bend it Like Beckham).

We’ve wrapped!

Darklight wrapped this weekend – after four fantastic days filming with a brilliant crew we got everything in the can. Can’t wait to see how it turns out! We’re all thinking about the premiere now!

MUMMY’S LITTLE SECRET…

Spent a lot of time this weekend prepping the set for Sarah’s bedroom. The wallpaper looks great – and seems such a shame that we’ve now got to paint over it with black paint! Just a week to go until rehearsals!

CASTING COMPLETE!

Great news! We’re very excited to confirm that the role of Anne will be taken by the wonderful Tilly Vosburgh. More info here.

WALLPAPER A GO-GO

Just received this picture from the lovely people at RMC Digital Print our vintage-style wallpaper is coming off the printers right now… yes now… The images are slightly scary scenes from nursery rhymes and fairy tales created by the brillo artist Nat Gausden. Shame we have to cover it with black paint in the film!

Set build progress

Thanks to the brilliant people at Cato Music we’re building Sarah’s bedroom in a vacant part of their site. It’s taking shape and when it’s done it’ll be really creepy! Check out the pics – yesterday we finished lining the walls (which will be covered by wallpaper printed by RMC Digital Print) and built the chimney breast. The bed we purchased looks great too! Just three weeks to go until shooting starts!

ANNOUNCING OUR FIRST CAST MEMBER!

It is with great excitement that we’re able to announce that Alicia Ambrose-Bayly is taking the role of Sarah in Darklight. It’s a very challenging part – but one that we know Alicia can take on. She stood out at audition and our decision to pick her was instant. We’re currently finalising who will play Anne so there will be more news soon. For more info on Alicia, check out our Cast Page.
